Photographer
Hello! I’m Kayla, your fellow photographer and the proud owner of Powell Photo Studio LLC.
I remember being a little girl and we had a blue box. You would take off the lid of the box and flowing out would be endless photos. Photos of me, photos of my parents, extended family, every birthday, holiday, vacation... it was all there. This was also a time where phones were still on landlines and you could buy a disposable Fujifilm or Kodak camera. There was no other way to have photos because Facebook and MySpace didn't even exist yet. The only people who would see these photos would be the ones who would come visit you. Do I still have this blue box? No. The box broke apart from overflowing but somewhere all those memories still exist. Whether they are in another box or placed on the walls of my last childhood home.
Photography officially became my passion in the early high school days. I was 15 years old and all I wanted for my next birthday was a camera. I still remember that Nikon D3100. I would stand outside our apartment balcony in Germany and capture the clay tiles of European roofs, traveling and capturing the Greek architecture, and even taking photos of all the sport teams and clubs for the high school yearbook. Being a military brat, I was able to move and enjoy the beauty across many different places not just in Germany but also placed in Anchorage, AK such as Beluga Point and Point Woronzof. Being a military brat was basically the free trip to see the beauty of the world and what better way to capture that permanent memory.
It wasn't until I was out of college, got married and had children where I wanted to take my passion beyond a hobby. It has been my family all along, who supported my dreams from the very beginning and still do. My husband who is also a military service member, is my biggest support. He is the one who helps me stay organized, builds props, and sometimes will even tag along. You might see him pop in a session and pick up a camera too. When I’m not behind the camera or editing your beautiful photos, my family is my greatest joy and focus.
I love traveling, meeting new people, and capturing authentic moments. I strive to bring honesty, care, and genuine connection to every session I’m a part of.

Hi! My name is Emma Brown. I am a mom of 2 amazing girls and have 3 insanely sweet dogs. My husbands currently in the military so we’ve been moving around every few years. Although, my dad was in the Air Force so growing up I moved every 2-4 years.
I started photography as a hobby, in that awkward middle school stage. Snapping shots of cool flowers and trees, completely cringe worthy photos in this day and age. It wasn’t until highschool that I started photographing people. At this stage, photography became so much more to me. I learned that the practice of self portraits (photographing oneself), was an amazing way I could express myself.
It was therapeutic to set up my tripod, throw on the 5 second timer, and hit a pose. I focused on eliciting emotion and feeling, so my audience could see but also perceive my experience. It was through these self portraits, I fell passionately in love with the art of photography.
It is my personal mission to provide the most stress-free, enjoyable, personalized experience to my clients. My personal motto is to live passionately, lovingly and to help people love themselves. I want people to walk away from our time together feeling beautiful and confident. Hanging pictures on their wall, reminding them everyday how amazing and beautiful they are.
